Are you a musician wanting to develop musicianship skills or simply play something jazzy!
As intermediate players interested in jazz, it can be hard to find suitable material to practice and play that isn't too difficult. There are many fantastic websites and books offering jazz transcriptions by world famous players. Many of these solos are simply too technically demanding for intermediate players to attempt. It is our hope here at Jazz Etudes, that students can find suitable material to play that matches their current ability, then use the jazz language within the etudes and try it in their own improvisations. All the jazz etudes are aimed at intermediate players, with limited tricky passages to master and an easy playing range.
We also offer many free (weekly) resources for improving your improvising. Why not subscribe to get them all sent straight to you.
Jazz Etudes has been created by Trumpeter & teacher Darren Lloyd with the aim of introducing music students to the wonderful world of jazz music.
Darren holds a Master of Arts in Jazz performance and a fully qualified music teacher holding a PGCE (recognised teaching qualification) from the Manchester Metropolitan University. He has also performed with many of the top ensembles in the UK. With a passion for jazz and music education, he hopes you find the materials on the site beneficial, engaging and fun.
