What Are ii-v-i Jazz Licks?
A 2-5-1 progression is a harmonic sequence built from the second, fifth, and first chords of a key.
For example in C major:
Dm7 → G7 → Cmaj7
This progression appears in thousands of jazz standards.

Here is my take on four of the ii-v-i phrases.
🎵 Lick 1 — Clifford Brown 2-5-1 Jazz Lick

Clifford has by passed the D-7 and gone straight into the G7, starting on the 3rd to the 7th on beat 3 (bar 1), enclosing the 5th on beat 1 of bar 2, up to the 9th on beat 3 and then playing a bebop scale fragment resolving to the 3td and root of Cmaj7.
🎵 Lick 2 — Clifford Brown 2-5-1 Jazz Lick

Clifford plays the D-7 chord notes here, bar 2 plays the #5 outlining the changes and then finished with a chromatic enclosure on the Cmaj7.
🎵 Lick 3 — Clifford Brown 2-5-1 Jazz Lick

Not playing the D-7, straight into the G7. Bebop scale, targeting the 7th in bar 2, chromatic enclosure to the tonic, again bebop scale fragment, enclosing the C in bar 3, Cmaj7.
🎵 Lick 4 — Clifford Brown 2-5-1 Jazz Lick

This phrase is very diatonic, with not much chromaticism. Atarting on the 7th of D-7, targeting the 3rd, onto the 5th in bar 2 on the G7, down the bebop scale, targeting the 3rd of Cmaj7 and landing on the major 7th.
All of these phrases are super melodic as they target the chord changes and use bebop elements such as targeting chord notes, approach notes, scale fragments, enclosures, chromatic enclosres and broken chords! All of these I teach extensivelt in my membership in level 2.

If you want to improve your jazz trumpet improvisation, you need to go beyond exercises and start learning real jazz language.
